David Coman is the chief executive officer of Science 37, which makes it easier for people to participate in clinical research by connecting patients with doctors and nurses through telemedicine visits and home health screenings, then managing trial logistics from an integrated, comprehensive platform.

David came to Science 37 from ERT, where he led its data and analytics business after serving as the company’s chief strategy officer. As the leader of ERT’s data and analytics business, David reimagined the way the pharmaceutical industry looks at performance and risk management for clinical trials while more than doubling the company’s bookings from analytics over a two-year period. In his strategy role, David spearheaded the acquisition of four companies in a 12-month period, generating more than $1 billion in enterprise value, while repositioning ERT as the market leader in clinical trial data generation.

David joined ERT from Quintiles (now IQVIA), where as chief marketing officer and founder of its Digital Patient business, he helped lead the company’s growth from $2.7 billion in 2007 to $4.3 billion in 2015. It was here that David pioneered some of the industry’s first decentralized clinical trials while also driving significant growth and enterprise value.

Elisa Cascade has devoted more than 30 years to advancing clinical trial technology, direct-to-patient operations, and healthcare strategy. Throughout her career, she has been instrumental in using technology to transform clinical research to better serve all industry stakeholders. Before joining Science 37 as chief product officer, Elisa held a number of high-profile roles, including executive VP and product line executive for eCOA at ERT; chief product officer at DrugDev, an IQVIA Company; and VP of the digital patient unit at Quintiles. As an esteemed industry veteran, Elisa adds tremendous technological expertise and strategic prowess to Science 37’s Operating System, helping the company achieve its mission of enabling universal access to clinical trials—resulting in accelerated timelines, reduced patient burden, increased retention, and more representative participants. Elisa earned an MBA at The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Christopher Ceppi is an executive and technologist with more than 20 years of experience building and leading teams dedicated to innovation. He is a recognized thought leader in how best to apply technology to advance the conduct of clinical research in ways that benefit both patients and scientists. As chief technology officer at Science 37, Christopher leads the technology organization at Science 37 and drives the design and development of the groundbreaking Science 37 platform. He oversees the teams responsible for software engineering, product management, and data science.

Jonathan Cotliar has been Chief Medical Officer of Science 37 since November 2016. Prior to assuming this role, from November 2016 to May 2019, Jonathan served as Vice President of Medical Affairs of Science 37, where he contributed as an investigator on a number of virtual clinical trials in addition to his work in support of business development and regulatory strategy. He currently serves as Director of Inpatient Dermatology at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, with previous full-time faculty appointments at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, and City of Hope National Medical Center, where he was Chief of the Division of Dermatology. Jonathan earned his B.A. from Trinity College, MD from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine, and completed his training in dermatology and internal medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. While at UCLA, he completed an NIH-sponsored K30 Fellowship in translational investigation. Jonathan is also board-certified in both internal medicine and dermatology.

Darcy Forman joined Science 37 in January 2020 as the Chief Delivery Officer responsible for clinical operations service delivery, including clinical operations, data management, and nursing solutions. Prior to Science 37, Darcy served as the Vice President of Corporate Development at Firma Clinical Research. Previously, Darcy served in multiple clinical operations and project management positions at various CROs spanning large, mid-size, and niche including i3 Research (now Syneos), Health Decisions, and Clinipace. She started her career at Pfizer Pharmaceuticals as a Bench Scientist before transitioning to Pfizer’s Clinical Research division. Darcy earned her B.A. in Chemistry from Lake Forest College. 

Drew Bustos is the Chief Strategy and Marketing Officer of Science 37 and has led marketing teams for more than 15 years in a variety of large and nimble organizations.
 
Drew came to Science 37 from ERT, where he was the Vice President of Global Marketing Strategy. In prior roles at ERT, Drew led Product Management for its Data portfolio (Business Intelligence & Integrations), and headed Corporate Strategy/Market Research, where he established the company’s strategy framework, market sizing, and market segmentation framework. 

Before ERT, Drew led Product Marketing and Design at IQVIA, where he was responsible for User Interface (UI)/User Experience (UX) design, demand generation, thought leadership, analyst relations, social engagement, and competitive intelligence for the company’s global technology solutions portfolio.

Prior to IQVIA, Drew spent more than a decade at Cegedim Relationship Management (acquired by IMSHealth), where he was Vice President of Global Marketing and Communications. During this time, he oversaw social media, public relations, brand management, industry analyst relations, database marketing, creative design, global events, internal communications, and global sales support.

In addition to leadership roles in the clinical and commercial pharmaceutical sectors, Drew spent more than a decade in telecommunications at companies such as AT&T and Excel Communications.

Drew earned his B.A. in business administration from Fairleigh Dickinson University.  He has successfully completed Executive programs at Stanford Graduate School of Business (LEAD: Corporate Innovation), the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania (Mini-MBA), and at the Edwin L. Cox School of Business at SMU (Advanced Management).

Steve Geffon joined Science 37 in December 2019 as Chief Commercial Officer. Prior to Science 37, Steve served as Chief Commercial Officer at Medrio, a cloud-based electronic data capture platform for clinical trial and registry studies, from October 2018 to December 2019. Prior to Medrio, Steve spent over 15 years with ERT, where he was Group Vice President, North America. He has nearly 20 years of experience with technology-enabled solution providers and SaaS organizations. Steve earned his B.S. in Biology from Stockton University.

Christine Pellizzari joined Science 37 in July 2021 as Chief Legal Officer. Prior to joining Science 37, Christine served as the General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of Insmed, Inc. from 2013 to 2021 and as Chief Legal Officer from 2018 to 2021. She also currently serves on the board of directors of Tempest Therapeutics, a clinical-stage biotechnology company, and Celsion Corporation, a fully-integrated oncology company. Prior to Insmed, Christine held various legal positions of increasing responsibility at Aegerion Pharmaceuticals, Inc., most recently as Executive Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary. Prior to Aegerion, she served as Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of Dendrite International, Inc. Christine joined Dendrite from the law firm of Wilentz, Goldman & Spitzer, where she specialized in health care transactions and related regulatory matters. She has nearly three decades of relevant experience, including having served for over 25 years as CLO and General Counsel of publicly traded companies in biopharmaceutical and related industries. Christine earned her B.A. in Legal Studies from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and J.D. from the University of Colorado School of Law.

As Vice President of Business Transformation, Anita helps to shape the company’s focus—ensuring a clearer path to success. Anita was previously VP of product strategy for three years, during which time she was responsible for the development and implementation of the roadmap for Science 37’s industry-leading technology platform.

Anita brings a wealth of business expertise in product management and strategic development from roles that span the healthcare space—including genomics, health IT, pharma, and public health. Prior to joining Science 37, she was a founding team member and VP of product management at Genos, a Series A consumer genomics startup. Anita also held strategic planning positions at Athenahealth (Epocrates) and Genentech. She has an MBA from Harvard Business School and degrees in molecular biology and finance from Princeton University.

Jim Young is the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) of Science 37, where he loves building great teams and helping them achieve incredible results. He has over 20 years of international HR experience leading organizations in technology, life sciences, and consumer industries, along with extensive experience leading operations, quality, and administration functions globally.  

Jim came to Science 37 from Hudson Peak, a company specializing in global, remote, and on-site HR services, where he was principal. He also spent time as the CHRO of Vets First Choice (now Covetrus), a global animal health technology and services company. There, Jim led the HR efforts for Covetrus’s (CVET) initial public offering (IPO).

In addition, Jim was head of HR and Quality for Aptuit, an international biotech and pharma services firm. Earlier in his career, Jim was the global CHRO at Dendrite International, which is now owned by IQVIA, in addition to holding a variety of human resources leadership roles at Viacom, WebMD, and GE.

 Jim earned his B.A.s in political science and philosophy from Fairleigh Dickinson University. 

Mike Zaranek joined Science 37 in April 2020 as Chief Financial Officer. Mike joins Science 37 from IQVIA's Contract Sales & Medical Solutions, where he served as Vice President of Finance for the global business unit from May 2015 to April 2020. Previously, Mike spent almost two decades in corporate development roles. In the aggregate, he has experience in excess of $20 billion in inorganic and capital market transactions. Mike holds a bachelor's degree in accounting from The Pennsylvania State University and earned his master's degree in business administration from Duke University.
